What we do

Sunday Services

Our Sunday services are at Sawston Village College, Lower School Hall, 9:30am, until 10:40am. Refreshments are available afterwards. We love families and optional children's groups are provided.

Children’s Church

Crèche and children’s groups meet during the morning service and are lead by church members.
The children stay with us for the family-friendly start of the service, then leave for Bible teaching, crafts, games, music and prayer in friendly small groups:
•         Creche aged 0-3
•         Scramblers aged 4-6
•         Trekkers aged 7-10
•         GROUP for school years 6-8

From time-to-time all ages remain together for a short, lively, child-friendly service called a All Age Service.
Visitors are always very welcome.

School Years 6-8 on Friday evenings in term time 6.00-7.30pm
We look at the bible, learn about Jesus, laugh a lot, and love games. We welcome any questions about God.  Look forward to seeing you there. Email Louise for more info.

Tuesday evenings 7.30-9pm @ The Silk’s (23 Queensway, Sawston) for Yr 9-13. Whether you know loads about Christianity or are just looking, you are very welcome to join us, (no freaky on-the-spot Q’s or being forced to pray, promise!).  Email Louise for more info.

Mid week homegroups

Although our Sunday services lie at the heart of what we do, our midweek homegroups are a vital part of our church family life. These smaller groups give us the opportunity to get to know each other better, read the Bible and pray together, and care for each other.

Groups meet in member's homes at 8pm on Wednesday evenings and from 9:30am on Thursday mornings. The morning group has a crèche for babies and toddlers.

 meetings for women

Once a term we hold a Friday evening and a Saturday morning breakfast meeting for women. These meetings provide an opportunity for women in the church to meet together and encourage one another in our faith in Jesus. Along with plenty of time for relaxing, chatting, laughing, crying and praying together, there will be a Bible study or talk on a topic to spur us on in loving and living for Jesus. Please see Upcoming Events for dates of next meetings.

Digging Deeper

The is a men's meeting looking at Church Membership and Discipline.

We aim to have done some theological thinking around some reading and to come on Saturday mornings monthly in term time to say what we have been struck by and moved by and to work out ways of applying what we have been looking at.  Starting at 7-9am. They are looking at the How People Change course.

Wormies Book Group

Christian books can provide much encouragement but they often just sit unread on our bookshelves, so we have set up a relaxed book group called Wormies for the women in our congregation. We choose just one book per term and then get together over a drink to encourage each other with what we have learnt about God and how to be more like him ourselves.

Christianity Explored

Time to discover ... who Jesus is, why he came, and what it means to follow him. This course runs for 8 weeks.

This is a relaxed and informal way to find out more about the Christian faith. Great for those who are finding out for the first time, or just want to brush up on the basics. Designed for the casual enquirer, you won't be asked to pay, pray, read aloud, or sing.
The evening would start at 8pm with people arriving and and chatting over tea & coffee. At 8.15 after a brief introduction we would put on a 20 minute DVD episode and then at tables have the opportunity for people to ask questions.  No question is too simple. Everything is open for discussion.
Eight weeks looking at what the Bible says about Jesus, God, life, our needs and how to be Christian.
All are welcome, whether its completely new for you, or you’d like to “brush up” on the basics.  For more info please contact tim on 01223 820116
If you would like to take part in any of these groups please contact us.

'Questions of Faith' Group

Have you done a Christianity Explored course, or similar Christian basics course (eg Alpha), but still feel unsure and have questions? This group is for people who want to explore further what it means to have faith in Jesus. If you haven’t attended such a course yet, you are welcome to come and join the Questions of Faith group anyway. The group uses a variety of courses and books that get us looking at and talking about the Bible.
The group uses The Prodigal God course, by Tim Keller.  Discover the Amazing Depths of God’s Extravagant Love. In six captivating sessions, pastor and New York Times bestselling author Timothy Keller opens your eyes to the powerful message of Jesus’ best-known – and least understood – parable: The Parable of the Prodigal Son. Dr. Keller helps you glean insights from each of the characters in Jesus’ parable: the irreligious younger son, the moralistic elder son, and the father who lavishes his love on both. The Prodigal God will challenge the devout and the skeptic alike to see Christianity in a whole new way.”
